Meet Our Team!!
Lisa Swanson, DPT
Lisa grew up in Brentwood, CA on a farm in the foothills of Mt. Diablo. She graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Eastern Washington University in 2013. Prior to that, she earned a Masters in Biology from Northern Arizona University and a BA in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy from Duke University. Lisa began studying strain counterstrain soon after graduating PT school and now has more than a decade of training in strain counterstrain and fascial counterstrain. She is also trained in traditional orthopedic manual therapy, functional movement assessment/exercise prescription, and aquatic therapy. Lisa specializes in manual therapy techniques to help the body recover after trauma, whether that be from surgery, injury, repetitive stress, or life events. Lisa’s primary area of focus is treatment of complex multisystem fascial dysfunction, particularly related to spinal and nerve conditions and chronic pain. Outside of the clinic, Lisa enjoys hiking, backpacking, paddling, and cross-country skiing with her family and friends.
Lisa’s treatment philosophy: Injury and trauma to the body cause spasms not only at the site of injury, but also in the tissues responsible for guarding that site from further damage. At the same time, trauma activates the part of the nervous system that protects us from danger. This nervous system activation plus spasms trap inflammation in the body. That can result in widespread pain and dysfunction far from the site of injury. In order to find the root cause of pain, we need to look at the whole person and how they have compensated and adapted to trauma.
Sarah Chisholm, PT
Sarah was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado and received her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and Pre-Physical Therapy from the University of Northern Colorado in 1992. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with her degree in Physical Therapy in 1997 and soon moved to Washington state. She has worked as an outpatient physical therapist in the Seattle and Spokane area since graduating and has 26 years of experience. Sarah has a passion for learning the traditional strain counterstrain techniques as well as the fascial counterstrain techniques and continues her education by taking classes through the Jones Institute. Her treatment techniques with facial counterstrain and strain counterstrain identify and gently treat multiple systems in the body that are creating pain and dysfunction. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children, swimming, biking, waterskiing, fishing, and gardening.
Sarah’s treatment philosophy: Sarah focuses on discovering the “culprit” of pain and not just treating the symptom(s). She believes many times the structure in pain is not always the one causing the pain.
Sasha White, LMT
Sasha was born in Minnesota and has been living in Spokane for the past 30 years where she has raised her family. She graduated from Northwest Noetic Medical Massage School in 2004 and has been a medical massage therapist for over 20 years. Sasha specializes in deep tissue massages and uses various massage techniques such as acupressure, cupping, and the Graston technique to give her patient’s relief. Since becoming a massage therapist, Sasha has continued her education and now uses cranial sacral techniques, myofascial release, and lymphatic drainage to treat chronic pain, athletes, injuries, and post surgery patients. In her spare time, Sasha enjoys hiking, kayaking, biking, traveling, and doing anything on the water.
Sasha’s treatment philosophy: Sasha aims to treat the source of the problem and not just the symptom. She believes that our bodies are like cars and that they need routine check-ups and maintenance.
